The makeup of our parish community is diverse and this diversity is a
source of our strength. What unifies us is each member's desire and commitment to be a part of St. Peter's. Because we come from many
communities and backgrounds we bring together a rich variety of outlooks, gifts
and needs. It is critical that each member take ownership for the
ongoing life of the community. To that end St. Peter's is
dedicated to the work of empowering all parishioners to realize and share their gifts
in the service of the community, the church and the world.
At the heart of our life together is the liturgy which gathers us
as one people called to share the one bread and cup as sign and mission
to the witness of the gospel. We are committed to a liturgical life
which is true
to our Catholic tradition and, at the same time, open to
contemporary sensibilities. We believe that the experience of the sacred in
community opens us to understand our work and life.
We are dedicated, as well, to a strong program of religious
education for both adults and children. We strive to make St. Peter's a center
for teaching and learning and to provide for the wider community programs
of quality and interest. We especially heed the call to welcome new members
into the church through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.
Our prayer and learning must bear the fruits of service and
a commitment to the needs of all people. Through social outreach
many
members seek to both work for justice and encourage others to join in this work.
